Simon-- I finally got to play your cd and must tell you- I found it UNBELIEVABLE!! You ARE Cliff!!! Probably the most like him I've ever heard, not on just one style but ALL the styles of songs from the different era's. You even got my vocal arrangements right. What a wonderful version of The Next Time! As I emerged from the bathroom this morning, the radio station Big L was playing The Next Time. I knew from the phrasing that it wasn't the original but I just thought, "Oh, this is a Cliff outtake – how fascinating!" So you can imagine my surprise when Mike Read said that in fact it wasn't actually Cliff!!! You sound just like Cliff and I thought your version of The Next Time was wonderful! Cliff has a very distinctive voice, and one which is extremely hard to copy - but honestly, it truly was like listening to Cliff himself. Thank you for giving me a lovely surprise, when I received your package containing your CD, photo and flyer. I am listening to it as I write this note. The arrangements are brilliant, and as my good friend William Hooper says on your flyer, "Obviously a lot of time, effort and love has gone into this project" It's very special as it includes my favourite "Devil Woman". It is most enjoyable. WELL DONE Next time we have Meeting House (23/8/08), I will play it for the rest of the Pretoria group and I'm sure they will love it too.
