Simon Goodall, a tribute to Sir Cliff Richard
Simon Goodall Biography
Simon Goodall, highly acclaimed singer songwriter, has a credible track record and is well respected in his own right as a CCM recording artist here in the UK. Since his career began in 1996, he has released six solo albums, as well as being in high demand as a studio session singer. To date, Simon has provided lead and backing vocals on well in excess of three hundred albums. Simon has also performed his own songs "live" here in the UK, Europe and Nashville, as well as being invited to perform on the BBC and ITV television networks. As a crafted and skilled songwriter, Simon has had many of his songs covered by other artists and has been featured on other albums here in the UK and USA. Cliff Richard says of Simon's previous solo album, “Where Have the Years Gone” (2006): “A great vocal and song writing talent”.

People have concluded from Simon’s own solo recordings and live concerts, just how much he sounds like Cliff. Funny thing for Simon is, it's not something that he's particularly ever really tried to be - it just happens that the natural sound of his voice has the Cliff likeness.

In 2003 Simon co-wrote, recorded and produced a Christmas song called "It's a Boy". This song was submitted to Cliff for consideration for possible recording. As the CRO played the track, they were shocked by the vocal similarity to Cliff. The result was that Cliff loved the song and agreed to record it. EMI were so pleased with the result that it also became the AAA side to Cliff's Christmas Single of 2003, Santa's List (Chris Eaton), which reached No 5 in the UK Top 40 Singles Chart.

In 2006, after listening to a demo song “Someone Else” submitted for consideration for Cliff's duets album "Two's Company", some of Cliff's closest friends for many years were taken in by the astonishing Cliff likeness. They actually thought it was Cliff himself!

2008 as you are aware was somewhat of a landmark for Cliff, as he celebrated an incredible 50 years in show business - and what a better way to pay respect to a man who has stood the test of time, than for Simon to record a selection of his most popular songs.

On July 2nd 2008 Mike Read interviewed Simon about his celebratory tribute album on Red SKY TV music show. Simon performed The Next Time, Miss you Nights, Ocean Deep, Carrie, Faithful One and Wired for Sound, which was recorded at Waterfall Studios, Shepherds Bush, London.

Bill Latham, Cliff’s Manager, presented the Album to Cliff and after listening to it, he was absolutely amazed and submitted the following official quote to Simon: "Simon's the first person I've heard who I think actually sounds like me. It's uncanny!" Sir Cliff Richard July 2008. Then, on 19th September 2008, Simon performed at Sir Cliff’s Tribute Lunch at the Dorchester Hotel, London, hosted by the Children’s Variety Club of Great Britain. It was there that Cliff publicly (in front of guests/celebrities) congratulated Simon, stating that he done such a “terrific job” and “such a fantastic double”– so much so he thought Simon had actually ‘sampled’ some of Cliff’s original vocals.

On 6th September 2008 Simon’s version of “Faithful One” (taken from the Album - A Tribute to Cliff Richard) hit the No.1 position in Mike Read’s Big L Fab 40 after been in the charts for 12 weeks.

On December 14th 2009 Simon released his first ever commercial “single” Bluebird Café/Someone Else, which is available for download on itunes, Napster and Amazon.

On July 2nd 2010, Simon will be performing at The Savoy London in the VIP lounge at the Karen Keating Foundation Charity Ball.
